Carrick: No Man United Dressing Room Division After Martínez Outburst
Match Overview
Former Manchester United midfielder and coach Michael Carrick has dismissed reports of squad friction following defender Lisandro Martínez’s fiery reaction to being substituted during Manchester United’s 2-1 victory over Newcastle United at Old Trafford.
Martínez was replaced by Jonny Evans in the 75th minute and showed visible frustration on the bench. Speaking after the match, Carrick insisted the outburst was a sign of healthy competitive desire rather than internal division.
“There is no rift in that dressing room,” Carrick stated. “Licha is a passionate player who wants to win every duel and play every minute. That drive is exactly what United needs.”
